(male announcer) live from the kron 4 news station, this is the kron 4 news. >> and iftonight. police are still looking for a parolee on the run in bay point. video from sky 7 shows the aftermath in a residential neighborhood. police say it all started when officers tried to pull the parolee over for a routine traffic stop. that's when they say he took off and ran his car into a fence. we go live to the scene jeff? >> reporter: this is on the corner of virginia and alvez the 82 year old was watching

television when this crash happened to. the suspects' vehicle plowed right into the front fence. it kept moving and crashed into her car. the suspect vehicle it is this blue sedan very badly damaged. this is completely destroyed. the suspect got out and ran away. >> i heard the sirens and i heard the crash. >> reporter: and you came out and what did you see? >> i came on and i saw that my car was parked here. and its return to it around, they're >> reporter: she says that this is not the first time like this has something happened. they believe that the suspect is somewhere in this area. however, he is still on the loose.

reporting live from bay point, kron 4 news. >> in a separate incident. contro costa county authorities are searching for a parolee on the run tonight in baypoint. according to the sheriffs fence. to find him >> this was after a shooting at the bart station. a man is in critical condition tonight after being shot several times at the pittsburg - bay point bart station. service was stopped tonight for about 45 mintues as officers made sure the shooter was not getting away on a bart train. this video from a short time ago courtesey of sky-7hd. details about the shooting and search for the suspect. >> this white toyota camry smashed into this row of

parked cars. they're trying to piece together exactly what happened at the fickl-the person was shot several times. a black car came up at the victim and the passenger had a brief conversation after the shooting started, the witness did not want to reveal himself on-camera of what he saw. >> this ever heard pop, pop, pop they are proceeding down a three more files and he turns and smashes into those cars behind me. in the passenger jumps out and got up on the island and took off running. that is when i

called park police. >> reporter: they detained the passenger that ran from the camry after the crash. the black car fled the scene and the shooters are still at large. investigators will reveal surveillance cameras. they do not know if this was gang-related in pittsburgh, reggie kumar, kron 4. >> oakland businesses are fed up with vandalism.and they're calling for a larger police presence. kron four's philippe djegal spoke to frustrated store owners who returned to work after the holiday.only to find more of the same. >> reporter: rosa cabrera lives and works in the same oakland neighborhood. everyday she walks to her hair salon that she's owned for the past five years. and, until now, she says she's always felt safe. vandals have her on edge though now. after she says someone broke the windows of her business. >> it has never happened before but i am worried it could happen again, i do not know. >> reporter: it seems rosa's hair salon on fruitvale

avenue wasn't the only business to sustain damage the day after christmas. cabrera says the window of a shuttle van for an elder care facility was also broken. these six windows of an empty storefront on the corner of the block also shattered. now boarded up. >> i am going to stay here because i like this area. but if this is still going to happen i still might have to move my business. >> reporter: in the past, cabrera says her salon has been tagged with graffiti. she was also robbed more than a year ago. yet she says she's never filed a report here at the oakland police department. but that in this case, some of the neighboring businesses did. in oakland, philippe djegal, kron four news. >> ooakland city leaders

continue to battle a big jump in a crime. and today they laid down a new plan on how to do that. as previous plans to stop the violence this year -- have seemingly failed. there have been 127 homicides in oakland this year -- up 21-percent from the same period last year. 210 rapes -- up 23-percent. nearly 4-thousand robberies -- a 23-percent increase. and more than 12-thousand burglaries -- a jump of 44- precent. the first move. recruiting oakland residents to assits in a neighborhood policing program. the second step. bringing in a consultant to take a look at oakland's police department. kron four's jeff bush tells us who this high profile consultant is.and why his big city credentials could help bring down violent crime in oakland. >> reporter: bill bratton is the big name in the list of consulatants hired by opd. his carreer in policing has brought him to some of the biggest departments in the country. bratton was the new york city police commissioner from 1994 to 1996 and was credited with improving the

crime rate in that city. he took over as the chief of police in los angeles in 2002 and led the department until 2009. o.p.d. says he will offer his advice but the chief says he is still in charge in oakland. chief howard jordan oakland police they will give us recommendations and it is up to me to make sure they are implemented because at the end of the day it's my responsibility to make sure the policing in a lawful and constitutional and it's also effective and efficiant to reduce violent crime. >> reporter: bratton and his business partner bob wasserman created the comp stat system that is used by many major police departments in the country, including oakland. jordan ... >> we want to look at what we are doing here in oakland. we have the comp stat model here in oakland and we want to look at how we can strengthen it and improve it based on his experience and how he's used it in l.a. and in new york. >> reporter: bratton and his company will start early next year. i'm jeff bush, kron four news. >> jacqueline: still 30's

former president george h-w bush.is still in intensve care at a houston hospital.dealing with a stubborn fever.but his sense of humor is just fine. the former president's family is confident he will be out of intensive care soon. bush's chief of staff sent supporters a note today including this quote: "he would ask me to tell you to please put the harps back in the closet." the 88-year-old has been in the hospital for more than a month, after first coming down with bronchitis. ♪
